Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2019-2023 VNRE battery electric trucks. The cabin heater relay may fail, causing the coolant heater to overheat.
A coolant heater that overheats can increase the risk of fire.
Dealers will update the software for the Hybrid Powertrain Control Unit and Instrument Cluster, and install replacement relays, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 16, 2023. Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2019-2023 VNR Electric vehicles. The power cables that connect to the windscreen heater relay may have a loose connection and cause the relay to fail.
A relay that fails in the closed position will continue to power the cabin heater, overheating the relay and increasing the risk of a fire.

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2020-2024 VNR Electric vehicles. The rivnut threaded inserts inside the high-voltage battery may be over-tightened and break, which could result in a short circuit.
An electrical short circuit increases the risk of a fire.
Dealers will replace the batteries, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 15, 2023. Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2020-2025 VN, VAH, VHD and VNRE trucks, equipped with Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECU). Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working.
Safety systems that depend on the ECU (Automatic Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and Collison Mitigation System) may have diminished or lost functionality, increasing the risk of a crash.
