Chrysler will be contacting the owners of approximately 1.5 million Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep owners, about a problem affecting the Occupant Restraint Control (ORC). According to the defect report, a short could develop in the ORC module and prevent the frontal airbags, side airbags, and seat belt pretensioners from deploying.

The Law Offices of Delsack & Associates P.C. were contacted by the owner of a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette who believed his vehicle was a lemon. He had complained to GM many times about the problems he was having and had given his dealership five (5) opportunities to fix the defects.

He told us the engine had been replaced, the air bag warning light was always on, the engine would repeatedly overheat, there was a clunking noise in the front end during slow turns, and the car would stall at low RPMs. Repairs on the transmission included replacement of the dual mass flywheel and the clutch pressure plate. Additionally, the Corvette had been fixed under two separate technical service bulletins. TSB PI-1276: Repairs to the transmission to correct difficult shifting and a “mushy” shifting feeling. TSB PIE0302: Repairs to the transmission to correct difficult shifting from 1st or 2nd gear, clunk/grind/rattle noises, clutch pedal noise, and general poor operation. Continue reading

Mercedes-Benz has determined that a small number of 2016 C300 and 2016 GLC 300 vehicles have an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) hydraulic control unit that may have been damaged during transport. Depending on the extent of the damage, specific ESP functions may be deactivated. Drivers will be alerted of a problem through a display message and warning lights on the dashboard, and may experience loss of electronic parking brake functions.

Those receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealerships to have the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) hydraulic control units replaced. Drivers of certain 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee‘s may hear squeaks and rattles coming from the seats of their vehicles. Chrysler will be sending notices to owners instructing them to return to their dealerships to have the problem repaired.

According to the defect report filed with the NHTSA, low torque on the first and/or second row seat fasteners could result in squeaks, rattles, deflection or unsatisfactory joint integrity. If the problem is not repaired, it could compromise the structural integrity of the seat. Owners wanting more information about the problem are asked to contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number for this recall S63 and the NHTSA campaign number is 16V-590.

Nissan will be asking the owners of certain Maxima and Murano vehicles to visit their dealerships to repair a problem affecting brakes. According to the defect report, these vehicles are equipped with ADVICS ABS actuators that may have been manufactured out of specification. The actuator seals may leak and result in an illuminated ABS warning lamp. If this warning is ignored, the leak could create an electrical short in the actuator circuit and a potential fire. General Motors will be contacting the owners of certain 2014-2017 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles, about a problem affecting the airbag deployment system. The recall was initiated after a report was filed in GM’s “Seak Up for Safety” system, relating to a fatal crash involving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado truck. According to the recall report, the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) in certain vehicles may have a software defect which could prevent the deployment of frontal airbags and pretensioners.

Subaru will be contacting owners of certain 2017 Subaru Outback vehicles regarding a problem affecting brakes and suspension. According to the defect report, the bolts used to attach the front brake calipers, wheel hubs and the right stabilizer clamp may not have been sufficiently tightened. Drivers will be alerted to a problem by a rattling or clunking sound from the front wheel area, especially when brakes are applied. If the attaching bolts loosen or detach, the related components would also become loose and could possibly detach. The owner of a 2014 RAM 1500, purchased in May 2014, started experiencing problems less than a month after driving his truck. The vehicle repair history included three (3) unsuccessful repair attempts and over 33 days in the hands of an FCA approved repair facility. When he contacted the Law Offices of Delsack & Associates P.C., he told us the transmission was difficult to shift, the ignition system was defective, and the occupant restraint system gave inaccurate indications.
