The wiring for the vanity lamp in the sun visor could experience a high restive short after having been fixed in a prior recall. Chrysler will be asking owners of certain 2015-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles, equipped with a power liftgate option, to return to their dealerships for an electrical problem. According to the defect report filed with the NHTSA, some vehicles may experience a corrosion induced high resistance short circuit due to liquid intrusion into the Power Liftgate Control Module. Hyundai will be contacting the owners of certain 2013-2014 Genesis Coupes about a safety defect affecting their vehicles power train. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the differential and suspension rear cross member may have not been properly aligned during assembly. The bolts that secure the differential could loosen and the drive shaft may disconnect from the differential. Loss of propulsion could increase the chance of an accident. Continue reading

Honda will be notifying owners of certain 2016 Honda Pilot 2WD vehicles to return to their dealerships for a problem affecting the instrument cluster warning lights. During a safety system malfunction, the corresponding system warning light will not illuminate until the ignition has been turned of and then back on. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, “Electronic stability control systems”, number 135, “Light vehicle brake systems” and number 138, “Tire pressure monitoring systems”. Chrysler will be asking the owners of some 2016 Chrysler Town and Country and 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan minivans to return to their dealerships to repair a safety problem that could result in the drivers vision being obstructed. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, during manufacturing, the bolts that attach the hood striker may have been insufficiently tightened and could loosen over time and detach from the hood. General Motors have announced a problem affecting the automatic occupant sensing (AOS) system in certain 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles equipped with front vented-heated passenger seats. According to reports, the AOS calibration process may not effectively account for humidity and build material variation and could fail to suppress the front passenger air bag if a child seat is in the front passenger seat. If the airbag deploys with a child seat in the front passenger seat it could increase the risk of injury to the child. The front-passenger airbag status light will indicate that the airbag is “on” when the passenger seat is not occupied or is occupied by an infant. Additionally, the front-passenger seat’s safety-belt warning light and chime may turn on when the passenger seat is not occupied and the seatbelt is not buckled. Continue reading

General Motors has decided that certain 2013-2016 Cadillac ATS vehicles equipped with power operated roof panel systems may fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. They will be contacting owners to return to their dealerships for repairs. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the overhead roof console accessory switch trim plate may have switches that are not fully recessed in the panel. The switches could inadvertently be pressed resulting in an unexpected sunroof closure. Although the roof panel does have an auto reverse feature to prevent injury from unintended closure, it may not protect against all injuries. Continue reading

Nissan will be sending notices to certain 2015 Rogue, Sentra, and Versa Note owners, regarding a problem with left hand door latch mechanisms. According to the defect report, some door latch mounting plates may have been manufactured out of specification. Binding of the ratchet mechanism which captures the door striker as the door closes could result in the door not fully latching and opening while driving. Occupants not wearing seat belts could fall out and/or the distraction could increase the risk of an accident. Continue reading
