2015 Mercedes Benz C300 & C400 Fuel System Defects
Mercedes Benz will be notifying owners of certain 2015 C300 & C400 cars, about a problem affecting the fuel delivery system.
- The subject vehicles may have a fuel delivery module that was not properly attached to the fuel tank. The module could become loose over time resulting in a fuel leak and an increased risk of fire.
- Secondly, the electrical wires going to the fuel delivery module may have been pinched between the flange of the module and the tank. The fuel pump may stop working, resulting in a stall and an increased chance of an accident.
2011-2012 Porsche Cayenne & Panemera Fuel Injection Problem
A fuel injection problem affecting certain 2011-2012 Porsche Cayenne S and Panemera S hybrid vehicles will have 1,368 owners returning to their dealership’s for repairs. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, certain dynamic driving may cause unfavorable tolerance conditions of the fuel rail. Minor fuel leaks could occur at the interface of the rail and injectors, and in the presence of an ignition source, could result in an engine fire. 2014-2015 Volkswagen Fuel Leaks
Volkswagen will be contacting certain Beetle, Golf, GTI, Jetta, and Passat owners about a manufacturing defect that could result in an engine fire.
According to reports filed with the NHTSA, during manual rework at the supplier, insufficient solder may have been used to seal a cap at the fuel rail. The failing seal may leak and in the presence of an ignition source could result in fire. Drivers of vehicles experiencing this problem may notice fuel smell in or around the vehicle and/or the EPC warning light may illuminate when the fuel rail pressure cannot be maintained. Safety Defects Affect Several BMW Models
BMW will be asking a small number of car and SUV owners to return to a BMW dealer for several problems that could affect the safety of their vehicles. These defects include:
2015 X3 & 2015 X4: These vehicles were produced with a driver’s side exterior rear view mirror that does not meet the U.S. market requirements. Lexus Fuel Leak Safety Problem
Toyota will be contacting the owners of approximately 422,000 Lexus GS, IS, and LS vehicles to return to their dealerships for a problem with the fuel delivery system.
According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the affected vehicles were manufactured with a plating on the fuel delivery lines to protect against corrosion. This plating could result in the sealing property of the gasket seated between the pressure sensor and the pipe to become degraded. 2010-2014 RAM Truck Fuel Leak
Chrysler will be asking owners of certain 2010-2014 RAM trucks equipped with diesel Cummins engines, to return their vehicles to their dealership to repair a safety defect with the fuel system wire harness. An engineering analysis found that the terminals on the fuel heater connector could overheat and deform, possibly leading to failure of the O-ring that seals the fuel heater assembly. Certain 2010-2012 Mazda6 vehicles equipped with 2.5L engines could be affected by a problem in the fuel system that could lead to fuel leaks and an increased chance of a vehicle fire.
