General Motors will be asking owners of certain 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and 2015 GMC Canyon trucks to return to a dealer to repair a problem affecting the drivers airbag. The defect was discovered during routine diagnostic testing in which a GM technician found an incorrect diagnostic trouble code in the vehicle. An investigation discovered that the airbag connections were incorrectly manufactured, reversing the deployment sequence and timing of the driver airbag stages. This condition will cause the driver airbags to not function as designed, increasing the chance of injury. Continue reading

2015 Cadillac Escalade Inconsistent Airbag Deployment
Certain 2015 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV SUVs could fail to conform to the Federal Motor Vehicle Standard (FMVSS) for occupant crash protection. According to reports filed on the NHTSA website, the passenger side instrument panel top cover may have been manufactured with inadequate adhesion between the spacer fabric and the vinyl show surface. The problem could result in the airbag not deploying consistently, increasing the chance of injury to the front passenger. Continue reading
BMW Loss Of Power Brakes
BMW will be asking approximately nine thousand sedan, crossover, and roadster owners to return their vehicles to a manufacturer repair facility for a safety defect that could result in the loss of oil supply to the vacuum pump. Due to an insufficient interference fit, the seal disk in the camshaft could move during engine operation, potentially restricting or blocking the oil supply holes. Over time, the pump could fail resulting in loss of power assist braking and an increased chance of an accident. (Even with loss of assist, the service brake control is able to stop the vehicle because affected vehicles meet the applicable FMVSS pertaining to conditions in which there is a loss of power assist braking.) Mercedes-Benz C-Class Loss Of Steering At Low Speeds
Daimler AG will be asking owners of some 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 and C400 sedans to return their vehicles to a Mercedes approved repair facility to have the steering system inspected for a manufacturing error that could result in loss of steering control. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, an improper assembly procedure could result in the steering coupling interlock mechanism not being locked in place. The sliding shaft could become disengaged from the coupling as the result of vibrations, steering thrust, or load feedback from the road surface. If the shaft becomes disengaged the driver may experience noises, steering backlash, and/or loss of steering control. Continue reading
2015 Honda Fit Airbag Safety Problem
Owners of some 2015 Honda Fit vehicles will be contacted by the automobile manufacturer to return their vehicles to an approved dealer to have the A-pillar interior cover inspected. During assembly, it is possible that the A-pillar interior cover designed for vehicles without side curtain airbags may have been installed on vehicles that have side curtain airbags. The incorrect cover could alter the performance of the airbag, increasing the risk of injury during an accident. Continue reading
Chrysler Shock Defect Safety Problem
In June 2014 Chrysler opened an investigation into shocks installed on certain 2015 Chrysler 200, 2014 Jeep Cherokee, and 2014 Ram 1500 vehicles, as a result of shock supplier, Hitachi, having a KL rear shock ring split during bushing press operation. The investigation found that, due to an inadequate inspection process at the supplier, the ring loop at the rear shock attachment may have a weld that is insufficient to carry the load of the vehicle. The loss of one of the two welds could result in damage to chassis components and tires, and decreased brake function. Continue reading
General Motors Seat Problem
General Motors will be asking owners of certain Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC vehicles to return to their dealership to repair a problem that could leave the front seat occupant unprotected during an accident.
Some vehicles may have been manufactured with an incomplete weld on the seat hook bracket assembly for both front seats. If the assembly is exposed to a high load condition, the hook could separate from the seat track, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Continue reading
2012 Chevy Sonic Transmission Malfunction
GM has identified a problem in some 2012 Chevrolet Sonic cars equipped with 6 speed automatic transmission and a 1.8L four cylinder engine. The vehicles in question, may have a condition in which the transmission turbine shaft could fracture due to a production non-conformance. Continue reading
