BMW will be asking a small number of car and SUV owners to return to a BMW dealer for several problems that could affect the safety of their vehicles. These defects include:

2015 X3 & 2015 X4: These vehicles were produced with a driver’s side exterior rear view mirror that does not meet the U.S. market requirements. Objects viewed in the mirror will appear closer than they are, increasing the risk of a crash during lane changes. (NHTSA campaign number: 14V648.)

2015 X5: The left rear seat belt on the optional rear comfort seat may have an inadequate weld on the bracket in which the belt buckle assembly is attached. During an accident, the weld could break significantly increasing the risk of injury to the occupant. (NHTSA campaign number: 14V650.)

2014 I8: The owners of these vehicles may experience fuel smells and leaks due to an inadequate weld of the bolt to the fuel tank. The fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could lead to a vehicle fire. (NHTSA campaign number: 14V674.)

Owners wanting more information about these defects are asked to contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or email CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.
