Jaguar Land Rover North America have filed several non compliance reports with the NHTSA and will be asking owners of certain Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles to return to an authorized dealer for repairs.
The first problem involves 2013-2014 Jaguar XF, XJ, and XK vehicles. Reports filed with the NHTSA state that during prolonged aggressive driving with frequent lateral and braking force, it is possible for the rear toe link to separate from the rear sub frame. Once separated, the orientation of the rear wheels could be affected, compromising stability and directional control. The problem can significantly increase the risk of an accident. Dealers will replace the nut and washer assembly on the rear toe links, free of charge. Jaguar’s number for this recall is J037 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-157.
The second problem affects certain 2013-2014 Jaguar XF vehicles equipped with 2.0L GTDi engines. According to reports, the charge air cooler (CAC) hose may separate from the charge air cooler resonator assembly. Drivers experiencing the problem may hear a loud pop as the joint separates, the engine will cut out, and brake assist as well as steering assist will be lost. Dealers will inspect the CAC hose to make sure the clamp is positioned correctly. Jaguar’s recall number is J034 and the NHTSA campaign number is . (Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 13V-341.)
Finally, Jaguar will be recalling certain 2014 Range Rover vehicles because they could experience front directional indicator lamp failure. The driver will not be alerted that one or both of the front directional indicators have failed and oncoming traffic will not be alerted of the intended direction of the vehicle. Dealers will correct the problem by updating its software. Land Rover’s number for this recall is P042 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-163.
