General Motors have identified a defect in certain Chevrolet and GMC trucks and SUV’s equipped with a 6-Speed Automatic Transmission. They are asking owners to return their vehicles to a manufacturer approved repair facility to have the problem fixed. GM’s recall number is 14121 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-152. Approximately 489,936 vehicles could be affected by this problem.
The problem was first noticed during a field performance evaluation review in March of this year. According to the recall report filed with the NHTSA, the subject vehicles may have a transmission oil cooler line that is not securely seated in the fitting. Oil leaking from the fitting could contact hot surfaces in the engine and result in a vehicle fire.
The vehicles affected by this problem include:
- 2014 Chevrolet Silverado
- 2015 Chevrolet Suburban
- 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe
- 2014 GMC Sierra
- 2015 GMC Yukon
