Honda has identified a manufacturing error relating to motor vehicle safety exits on certain 2014 Honda Civic LX sedans and coupes. The affected vehicles may experience tire damage that could result in unexpected loss of tire pressure. Honda recall number is JD8 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-109.

According to the NHTSA recall report, it is possible that the bead of the tire may have been pinched between the assembly equipment and the rims during assemble, creating a small tear. The damage could result in unexpected air loss, making the vehicle harder to control, and increasing the chance of an accident.

Honda will be notifying owners stating March 28, 2014 and dealers will inspect and replace any damaged tires. Owners wanting more information about the problem can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.
