Nissan has identified a breaking issue in certain Nissan and Infiniti sport utility vehicle’s (SUV’s) and are asking customers to bring in their automobiles to have their Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) reprogrammed. The vehicles experiencing this problem include Infiniti’s 2013 JX35 and 2014 QX60 as well as Nissan’s 2013-2014 Pathfinder. Approximately 152,000 vehicles could be affected. (NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V-445)
Although Nissan says that the ABS is operating within the brake system requirements of FMVSS no. 135 and Nissan’s internal standards, there have been several complaints from customers saying they experienced increased stopping distances during light braking while driving on rough or uneven road surfaces.
Nissan will notifying owners and will ask them to bring in their vehicles to have the ABS software reprogrammed to optimize brake output when the ABS is activated on certain types of rough or uneven surfaces.
