Mitsubishi has announced two recalls that will affect certain 2013 Outlander Sport vehicles manufactured between June 11, 2012, through December 11, 2012 . The first recall is similar to recalls issued by Hyundai and Kia earlier this month.

Due to an inappropriate setting of the brake stop lamp plunger the brake stop lamps could illuminate continuously or intermittently and could allow the transmission shift lever to be moved without depressing the brake pedal. If the brake lamps do not illuminate properly other vehicles may not know when the vehicle is braking and inaccurate transmission readings could result in the vehicle rolling away unexpectedly.

The second recall involves certain 2013 Outlander Sport vehicles with all wheel drive (AWD) Certain vehicles may have been built without a fuel sending unit harness for the sub sending unit. This may result in false fuel tank readings that could lead the driver to believe there is still ¾ of a tank of fuel when it is empty. An unexpected engine stall could lead to an accident or the driver could become stranded.

Mitsubishi will start notifying owners mid April, and dealers inspect and correctly instal of the stop lamp switch and the proper fuel sending harness as necessary. For more information about the problems, contact Mitsubishi at 1-888-648-7820.
