Hyundai is recalling over one million vehicles for a defective stop lamp switch that could experience an intermittent switch point contact. This condition could result in intermittent operation of the push button start feature, the inability to remove the transmission from the “park” position, illumination of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) warning lamp, intermittent interference with operation of the cruise control, and intermittent operation of the stop lamps. The vehicles involved in this recall include:
- 2007-2009 Accent
- 2007-2010 Elantra
- 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe
- 2007-2011 Santa Fe
- 2011 Sonata
- 2007-2009 Tucson
- 2008-2009 Veracruz
Anyone receiving the recall notice will be asked to take their vehicles to their nearest dealer to have the stop lamp switch. Owners wanting more information about the stop lamp switch problem may contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai has also announced the same recall that will affect over six hundred thousand 2007-2011 Kia vehicles.
