Ford’s all new 2013 Ford Fusion has been named Green Car of the Year at this years Los Angeles Auto Show. The winner is selected by an eleven member panel comprised of automotive and environmental experts who’s mission is to promote environmentally friendly and more fuel efficient transportation.
Ford’s all-new Fusion has been one of the best sellers of its class in the U.S. with a new stunning design, top safety pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and a starting price of only $21,700. According to Ron Cogan, editor of Green Car Journal, which gives out the annual award, the Fusion won because it offers a wide range of powertrains: three fuel efficient gasoline internal combustion engines including two with EcoBoost technology, a 47 mpg hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid expected to get 100 miles per gallon.
The redesigned midsize car emerged on top of an exceptional field of finalists including the 2013 Dodge Dart’s high-mileage Aero model, the Ford C-Max hybrid and plug-in hybrid vans, Mazda CX-5 SUV with Skyactiv technology and the new Toyota Prius C subcompact hybrid.
