2014 Cadillac CTS Repeated Repair Attempts – CA Lemon Law Buyback

The owner of a leased 2014 Cadillac CTS gave his GM dealer more than twelve (12) repair opportunities before he decided to call the Law Offices Of Delsack & Associates, P.C. for advice. He told us the engine, transmission and suspension were defective and there had been numerous repairs on the rear differential and axle. The CTS had also been recalled for a defective fuel flow control module, a problem common to many GM models.

Within a few short weeks of retaining our services, we were able to negotiate a repurchase of the defective vehicle and recover his down payment, monthly payments, and registration; less the mileage deduction fee allowed under the California Lemon Law. 2017 Cadillac XT5 & GMC Acadia Reduced Braking Power

General Motors will be contacting the owners of certain 2017 Cadillac XTSs and 2017 GMC Acadias regarding a problem affecting the brake system. An investigation into the subject vehicles found that the supplier of the brake caliper assembly may have incorrectly oversized the front caliper piston bore during machining. The oversized bore could prevent proper compression, allow the seal to extrude between the piston and the bore, and could result in a brake fluid leak. Drivers may experience reduced braking and/or an illuminated brake warning light.

Dealers will inspect the front brake calipers, replacing the assemblies as necessary. Owners wanting more information about the problem are asked to contact GM customer service at 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM’s number for this recall is 16096 and the NHTSA campaign number is 16V-8020.

2016 Cadillac CT6 Seat Belt Safety

General Motors will be contacting certain 2016 Cadillac CT6 owners about a safety problem that could exist in their vehicles. According to the defect report, the bolts that secure the front passenger seat belt webbing to the seat anchor plate may be missing. The webbing could detach from the seat anchor and may not effectively restrain the passenger during a crash.

Dealers will replace the existing front passenger seat belt webbing anchor bolt, or if the bolt is missing, install a new one. Owners can contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 for more information. GM’s number for this recall is 16035 and the NHTSA campaign number is 16V-687. (Note: Owners are advised to not carry passengers in the front passenger seat until the problem has been fixed.)

GM Airbag Software Defect

General Motors will be contacting the owners of certain 2014-2017 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles, about a problem affecting the airbag deployment system. The recall was initiated after a report was filed in GM’s “Seak Up for Safety” system, relating to a fatal crash involving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado truck. According to the recall report, the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) in certain vehicles may have a software defect which could prevent the deployment of frontal airbags and pretensioners.

GM Suspension Defect Could Result In Difficult Steering

General Motors has decided that a defect relating to vehicle safety exists in certain 2016-2017 Cadillac, Chevy and GMC trucks and SUVs, and will be asking owners to return to their dealership for repairs. According to the defect report, the welds on the front upper control arm near the bushings may be poor quality and could fail. Cadillac ATS Window Defroster Could Overheat

General Motors have announced a safety defect affecting certain 2013-2016 Cadillac ATS sedans and will be asking owners to return to their dealership for repairs. According to reports, these vehicles may have a rear window defrost coil antenna that may have been manufactured with a weak terminal connection. Cadillac ATS Sunroof Could Unexpectedly Close

General Motors has decided that certain 2013-2016 Cadillac ATS vehicles equipped with power operated roof panel systems may fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. They will be contacting owners to return to their dealerships for repairs. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the overhead roof console accessory switch trim plate may have switches that are not fully recessed in the panel. The switches could inadvertently be pressed resulting in an unexpected sunroof closure. Although the roof panel does have an auto reverse feature to prevent injury from unintended closure, it may not protect against all injuries. Continue reading →
