2016 Nissan Sentra and Leaf Airbag Defect

Nissan is conducting a safety campaign on certain 2016 Nissan Sentra and Leaf vehicles to inspect the passenger side airbag module and main body harness. Due to a supplier error, the front passenger airbag wiring harness connector cylinder may have been manufactured out of specification. The wiring harness connector could disconnect from the airbag module completely.

  • If the connector becomes fully disengaged, a warning lamp will illuminate but the airbag will not deploy in a crash where it is designed to deploy.
  • If the connector becomes partially disengaged, a warning lamp may not illuminate.

2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinder Illuminating Brake Lights

The owners of certain 2013–2014 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles will be receiving notices about an electrical problem affecting the braking system. According to the defect report filed with the NHTSA, the stop lamp switch may have been installed incorrectly and could make intermittent contact causing the relay to stick in the ON position. The problem may cause the stop lamps to remain illuminated and the brake-shift interlock to become inoperative. This could increase the risk of a crash, or risk of a roll away if the vehicle is inadvertently shifted out of the Park position. Continue reading →

Chevy, Infiniti & Nissan Inaccurate Airbag Classification

Certain 2013-2017 Chevrolet, Infiniti and Nissan owners will be contacted by the manufacturer about a problem affecting the airbag deployment system. The front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. 2016 Nissan Maxima and Murano Brake Problem

The owners of certain 2016 Nissan Maxima and Murano vehicles will be contacted by the manufacturer about a problem affecting the braking system. According to the defect report, some vehicles were manufactured with an ABC actuator with a damaged o-ring. Nissan will be contacting the owners of certain 2016 Nissan Frontier V6 vehicles about a problem affecting the starter motor wire harness. According to the defect report filed with the NHTSA, the harness may have been installed incorrectly, allowing the harness terminal to contact the heat shield. 2014 Nissan Rogue Fuel Defect Expanded

Nissan North America will be asking owners of certain 2014 Nissan Rogue crossover SUVs to return to their dealership to repair a problem that could result in the vehicle unexpectedly stalling. Certain vehicles manufactured between January 2, 2014 and June 7, 2014 are already subject to Recall 15V-197, but upon further review of warranty data, Nissan is expanding the recall to include vehicles manufactured from the start of production (July 25. 2013) to December 21, 2013. 2013-2015 Nissan Leaf Brake Relay Failure

Nissan will be contacting the owners of certain 2013-2015 Nissan Leaf vehicles about a problem that could result in extended braking distances. According to the defect report, the relay inside the electronic brake booster could freeze in cold temperatures. If this occurs, the vehicle will illuminate the brake warning lamp and the system will set to “assist mode”. More pedal effort and increased braking distances could increase the risk of an accident.
