The owners of certain 2014-2016 Mazda CX-5 vehicles may be driving vehicles which fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 301, “Fuel System Integrity”. According to reports, these vehicles were manufactured with a fuel filler pipe that could, under certain impact crashes, rupture and spill fuel exceeding the limits allowed by the FMVSS. Mazda CX-9 Lower Control Arm Corrosion
Mazda will be notifying owners of certain 2007-2014 CX-9 crossover SUV’s to return to their dealership for repairs to the suspension system. The affected vehicles have front suspension ball joints that may experience water intrusion into the fitting. The fitting could corrode and the front lower control arm could separate from the joint causing a loss of steering control and an increased risk of an accident. Continue reading
2014-2015 Mazda6 Tire Monitoring Problem
Certain 2014–2015 Mazda6 vehicles may not meet the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety standards for tire pressure monitoring (TPMS). According to reports filed on the NHTSA website, if the pressure in all four tires gradually drop at the same time, the TPMS may not detect the drop and could fail to alert the driver. If the vehicle is driven on under inflated tires for prolonged periods, the tires will wear unevenly and could result in sudden tire failure. Continue reading
Takata Airbag Defect Affects Many Manufacturers
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is urging owners of certain BMW, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota vehicles to take immediate action and replace defective Takata airbags. Vehicle owners receiving regional recalls are especially urged to get the problem taken care of, as consistent hot and humid conditions are suspect to intensify the problem. These areas include: Florida, Puerto Rico, areas in Texas near the Gulf of Mexico, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, Guam, as well as Guam, Saipan, American Samoa, Virgin Islands and Hawaii. 2008-2011 Mazda Tribute Electric Steering Problem
Certain 2008-2011 Mazda Tribute vehicles built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant between October 2006 to September 2010 could be affected by a problem that could lead to loss of power steering assist. Mazda will be sending notices sometime in July, but are encouraging drivers experiencing issue with their steering to return their vehicle to a manufacturer approved dealer to have repairs done as soon as possible. 2015 Mazda6 Loss Of Engine Power
Certain model year 2014 Mazda3 and 2014-2015 Mazda6 vehicles equipped with 2.5L engines and a regenerative braking system, could experience a problem that results in an engine stall. Mazda will be contacting approximately 5,700 owners in the United States to take their vehicles in for repairs. (Mazda’s recall number is 7314D and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-173.)
