General Motors will be contacting the owners of certain 2014-2017 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles, about a problem affecting the airbag deployment system. The recall was initiated after a report was filed in GM’s “Seak Up for Safety” system, relating to a fatal crash involving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado truck. According to the recall report, the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) in certain vehicles may have a software defect which could prevent the deployment of frontal airbags and pretensioners.

Subaru will be contacting owners of certain 2017 Subaru Outback vehicles regarding a problem affecting brakes and suspension. According to the defect report, the bolts used to attach the front brake calipers, wheel hubs and the right stabilizer clamp may not have been sufficiently tightened. Drivers will be alerted to a problem by a rattling or clunking sound from the front wheel area, especially when brakes are applied. If the attaching bolts loosen or detach, the related components would also become loose and could possibly detach. The owner of a 2014 RAM 1500, purchased in May 2014, started experiencing problems less than a month after driving his truck. The vehicle repair history included three (3) unsuccessful repair attempts and over 33 days in the hands of an FCA approved repair facility. When he contacted the Law Offices of Delsack & Associates P.C., he told us the transmission was difficult to shift, the ignition system was defective, and the occupant restraint system gave inaccurate indications. The owners of certain 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedans will be contacted by the manufacturer regarding a problem affecting the instrument cluster readings. The affected vehicles may exhibit one or more of the safety related symptoms:

  • All warning lights may illuminate
  • Speedometer/tachometer/odometer readings are inaccurate
  • No cluster illumination
  • Turn signal indicators not illuminating when turn signals are activated
  • Momentarily inoperative instrument cluster

Those receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealers to have the instrument cluster software reprogrammed. Toyota will be asking the owners of certain 2006-2011 Toyota RAV4 and 2010 Lexus HS 250 Hybrid vehicles to return to their dealership to repair a problem affecting the rear suspension system. During a rear wheel alignment, improperly tightened alignment nuts could result in damage to the threaded portion of the rear suspension arm assembly. If the problem is not corrected, the damage could result in separation of the arm and an abrupt change in vehicle alignment. Continue reading

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) will be contacting the owners of certain 2015 RAM 2500 & 3500 trucks about a problem affecting the steering system. Some of these vehicles may have been built with inadequate front track bar frame bracket welds. If these welds brake, steering response will be reduced or lost. Drivers may experience an off center steering wheel prior to the failure.

Dealers will weld on a new track bar frame bracket or replace the frame of the vehicle. Owners wanting more information about the problem are asked to contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number for this recall is S58 and the NHTSA campaign number is 16V-559.

After trying unsuccessfully four (4) times to have his defective 2014 GMC Sierra 2500 HD repaired, the owner called our offices for advice and to retain our firm. He had a long list of problems affecting the fuel system of his vehicle. These included a defective high-pressure fuel pump, defective fuel temperature sensor, defective fuel rail assembly, fuel leaks corroding protective undercoating and a check engine light that remained on.
